The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a nationally recognised award for young people aged 14 - 25 years.

A Duke of Edinburgh's Award is so much more than a 'pat on the back' for completing a programme of activities. It is recognition of a young person’s successful journey of self-discovery and development, renowned by employers and universities alike for the qualities young people have who've achieved a DofE Award.

Its balanced programme develops the whole person - mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team working.

For more information on the DofE please follow the link http://www.dofe.org/ and find out why the DofE can make a world of difference to a young person’s life.

We provide the opportunity for all of our pupils across the Trust to take part in a Duke of Edinburgh Award. The DofE is a physical and mental adventure from the beginning to the end.  You just need to be aged between 14 and 16 and it does not matter what ability you are, we will aim to get you through it, if you put the effort in.  It is committing but very enjoyable and it will give you many different benefits.

DofE Manager & Outdoor Adviser

I have been teaching in special education for 12 years now and prior to that I worked for 5 years in the Post 16 Sector.

Prior to this I spent 16 years in the British Army which is where I became involved in adventurous activities at different levels and in several different countries. After leaving the Army I completed a Higher National Diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management and a BSc (Hons) Degree in Leisure Recreation Management.

I have been responsible for the preparation work for the Trust to gain a direct licence which enables C.I.T. to run its own Duke of Edinburgh courses and I am very pleased to announce that C.I.T. is now a directly licensed centre for Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

I am looking forward to creating exciting opportunities and challenges for all the young people across the Trust to challenge themselves and participate in.
