Andy Reid and Jack Hobbs visited Ambergate on Tuesday 10th March, to officially open GANF's brand new Gym facility.

The Children and staff have been fundraising since October 2013 to raise money to install a small adapted gym within a currently disused outbuilding. Their involvement has been phenomenal with pupils holding numerous cake sales and book sales to raise funds. Staff have donated money from outside projects they are involved in and a Teaching Assistant even swam the English Channel to help raise money for this project! GANF have also been lucky recipients of National Lottery money, along with numerous outside donations from The Rotary Club, The Lions Club, Sainsburys and Asda, Sleaford's Mayor and Sleaford's Muslim Community Group.

Now, smashing their target of £22,000, works have been carried out and installation of the equipment is now complete. The finished Gym now includes:

  • 3 x Interactive Row-Prow Concept II Rowers
  • 3 x Adapted Fusion R Cycles
  • Fully Interactive Cardio Wall
  • 3 x Pro Fit Exercise Balls
  • Matted exercise area with ceiling hung punch bag.

Nottingham Forest Players, Andy Reid and Jack Hobbs were both thrilled to be part of the day.

Jack said, “It’s great to be involved in things like this – to be able to give something back."

“But it’s also quite humbling. To see the smiles the new gym has put on the pupils’ faces is amazing. It’s a great facility for them and it was an honour for Reidy and me to represent the club by conducting the official opening."

“A lot of time and money has gone into this project and to see that it’s all paid off is fantastic.”

Ann White, Principal in charge of Schools for GANF, was delighted to invite the Forest pair to the grand opening.

She said: “It’s fantastic that the boys have taken the time to come down here and meet the children. Just looking at the students faces shows how much it means to them."

“We’ve raised £22,000 in 18 months to fund this project thanks to £10,000 in lottery funding and the help of investors. We’re so grateful to everyone who has been involved. This will make such a difference to the children’s lives. It will give every age group a fantastic new facility in which to complete their physical education activities."
