The Priory School have been awarded £9,625 for a playground upgrade.
The Priory School is pleased to announce they have been awarded a £9,625 grant from The National Lottery Awards for All Scheme. This great news means that changes can now be made to the children’s playground to improve playtime.
We are lucky at The Priory School, we have a large playground space however equipment such as footy goals and netball hoops are sparse. We have 130 children using the playground at any one time and this can cause issues when ball games are involved.
We came up with the idea of having an enclosed sport court so that children wanting to play ball games can use this space and children wanting to play other games can use a different space.
Unfortunately, enclosed sport courts don’t come cheap but we are thrilled with this injection of funding from the National Lottery. This will allow us to install two large MUGA ends (pictured) which include football goals, basketball hoops and cricket stumps. The children will be able to enjoy these fabulous new facilities when they return to school after the summer holidays.
We will now continue to fund raise in order to surface the court, lay multisport markings and enclose the area.
Barrie Taylor, Head of Site, “We are really looking forward to getting the new all-weather goal areas installed at the school before next term. It will make a massive difference to the amount of time the children will be able to spend taking part in enjoyable as well as healthy activities both during lessons and at break times. I am sure the new facilities will make a big difference and the pupils can’t wait to start using them.”
