Wow, what a fantastic day we had at this year’s John Fielding School Summer Fair. The sun was shining and people came out in their droves to visit us last weekend!
There was so much to see and do this year. We had live music all day from Matty Haynes, Autumn Storm and Koyote. There were performances from the Boston United Cheerleaders (pictured), also Allen School of Dance, and The Biz. We had visits from the local fire service and police force, they brought a fire engine and police car for the children to sit in and explore. And of course we had an abundance of craft and food stalls, a bouncy castle, a fairground ride and even visits from Minions, Frozen Princesses, Spiderman and Paw Patrol!
It was a jam packed day!
The Summer Fair this year was in aid of fundraising for a sensory room refurbishment at John Fielding School.
The current sensory room is now quite outdated and because of how much it is used on a daily basis, there are now issues with broken equipment.
John FIelding School want to refurbish this space to create a new, vibrant sensory room, also a calming room, and lots of cognition and communication sensory resources, to support learning. They would like an interactive floor, bubble tubes and a variety of lighting which can be used as switches and also a vibrating massage bed. They are also hoping to install new sound beam equipment in the room for our non-ambulant and non-verbal pupils to be able to compose their own music.
They need to raise £20,000 and now, with this fantastic injection from the Summer Fair, they have a new total raised so far of £4,855!
