We reported in June this year that Woodlands Academy received a £2,000 grant from The Greggs Foundation.
Well work has been well under way making and installing the four pole lathes in the school's woodland area. These pole lathes have enabled students to demonstrate their craft skills in a sustainable work environment.
The funding so far has enabled all key stages to experience the use of the lathes and shave horses. This is something that they cannot gain hands on experience until much later in life. These craft skills are developing whole range of skills including, hand to eye coordination, health & safety awareness and the absolute control of the creative design process.
In the next update we are hoping to share the new forge and Blacksmithing opportunities along with our own charcoal enterprise.
All this is thanks to the funding from #GreenerwithGreggs along with our staffs dedication and vision of a sustainable education experience.
More updates coming soon...
