Parents and pupils alike enjoyed 'Health Week' at GANF last week.
In line with the national government initiative “Change 4 Life”, GANF thought it would be fun to introduce some new things for pupils and their parents to try out.
Throughout the week the children took part in many activities under the theme of ‘Health’.
A yoga instructor came into Ambergate to do a taster yoga session with them and they were also lucky enough to have a visit from Dolly’s Disco, and take part in a music and dance class! An instructor from Oceans Gym also held an aerobics session with the children.
At break time there was a new ‘Healthy Tuck Shop’ available to pupils, full of healthy snacks like raisins, apples, baby carrots and bread sticks. The children absolutely loved the tuck shop, it was a complete success! Their favourite snack was the raisins because they loved the little boxes they came in!
Parents were also invited in to School to take part in ‘Health Week’. They watched a small presentation all about sugar swaps and learned just how cubes of sugar are in popular high street drinks – ewww!
Statistics show that 9 out of 10 lunchboxes have the wrong food types in them.
- Pasta for wholemeal pasta.
- White bread for brown bread.
- Sweetened drinks for water.
- Chocolate biscuits for fruit.
GANF received some excellent feedback from parents, saying there was so much they weren’t aware of. Parents filled in a questionnaire and one lucky winner went home with a healthy food hamper!
