John Fielding Special School receives £13,000 donation!
John Fielding School are thrilled to announce that they have received a whopping £13,000 donation from Freshtime UK in Boston. This fantastic news means that installation of the much needed bespoke sensory equipment can now commence!.
John Fielding Special School provides a broad and differentiated curriculum designed to meet the unique needs of all their pupils. Pupils can range in age from 2 -19 years old and all have severe learning difficulties, some also have an autistic spectrum disorder, epilepsy, a physical disability, sensory impairment, medical needs and/or a communication difficulty.
They currently have a sensory room that was devised 9 years ago and fundraised for internally. The equipment is used on a daily basis and is now in a poor state of repair. Many items have had to be removed completely and the room is now mostly used as a calming space for pupils.
The space requires complete refurbishment and the purchase of new bespoke sensory equipment.
Karen Smith, Head of Site, “We are so grateful to Freshtime UK for this donation. Our staff and volunteers have already worked so hard to raise over £5,000 themselves, now with this massive boost from Freshtime we are in a postion to begin the refurbishment and make a huge difference to our pupils.”
