Lottery Award

Sandon School awarded £9,985 for playground improvements!

We are so pleased to announce that Sandon School have been awarded a £9,985 grant from The National Lottery Awards for All Scheme. This great news has meant that exciting new sensory equipment could be made available to the children’s classroom outdoor areas to improve learning.

They have been upgrading their outdoor classroom areas over the past year but Beech Class and Cherry Class were in particular need of refurbishment.

This injection of funding from the National Lottery has allowed Sandon to install fully inclusive outdoor sensory circuits for pupils to engage with.

Stela Plamenova, Head Teacher of Sandon School, “We are all thrilled with the new equipment, it will offer our younger pupils new sensory experiences and outdoor learning activities. The older students will benefit from the brand new outdoor gym equipment which highlights again, the importance of keeping fit and healthy.

“Thank you to the National Lottery for making this happen!”

£1.4m injection for Ambergate Sports College!

Ambergate Sports College has won a Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) worth £1.4 million pounds to expand current classroom facilities.

This fantastic news means they can now build new classrooms and improve facilities for pupils whilst catering for an increase in pupil numbers in the future.

Ambergate has drawn up exciting plans for a two storey block extension. It will include eight new classrooms, as well as a much needed dining hall and kitchen extension.New build Amb3

The current school canteen is too small to accommodate everyone and was originally built in the 70’s to cater for 55 pupils.  Ambergate currently has 141 pupils on role.  The new building will be built to the left side of the school on the playground (the playground will then be extended following the build and the old mobile classrooms on the field will eventually be removed).

Headteacher, James Ellis, said: “The application was submitted because of an expansion in school numbers. The new block will provide excellent classroom facilities for our pupils, along with new toilets and extensions to the kitchen and sports hall.”

“We’re hoping to open the new building officially around Easter time.”

Caythorpe Primary School Consultation

Caythorpe Primary School’s governing body has applied to become an academy under the Academies Act 2010 and is proposing to join The Community Inclusive Trust.Caythorpe logo screenshot

A formal consultation period began on 6th September 2017 and ended on 17th October 2017.

Two meetings were held during the consultation at Caythorpe Primary School, High Street, Caythorpe, NG32 3DR . The meetings were public so any interested parties attended to learn more about the proposals to become an academy, and/or to comment on the proposals. Pupils were kept informed throughout the process via assemblies.

The Governing Body met on 19th October to consider all of the information and feedback gathered and to make a final decision about the school's future. At this meeting, it was agreed that the school would convert to an Academy as part of the Community Inclusive Trust. We expect that the official date of conversion to an Academy will be 1st December 2017.

Pole Lathes installed!

We reported in June this year that Woodlands Academy received a £2,000 grant from The Greggs Foundation.Pole Lathe

Well work has been well under way making and installing the four pole lathes in the school's woodland area. These pole lathes have enabled students to demonstrate their craft skills in a sustainable work environment.

The funding so far has enabled all key stages to experience the use of the lathes and shave horses. This is something that they cannot gain hands on experience until much later in life. These craft skills are developing whole range of skills including, hand to eye coordination, health & safety awareness and the absolute control of the creative design process.

In the next update we are hoping to share the new forge and Blacksmithing opportunities along with our own charcoal enterprise.

All this is thanks to the funding from  along with our staffs dedication and vision of a sustainable education experience.

More updates coming soon...
