Forest Schools

C.I.T - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

C.I.T believes that everyone is unique and deserves to have a first class education and be provided with innovative approaches to support their learning. We have a responsibility to ensure we stimulate and engage our pupils appetite to learn, enabling them to continue their outstanding lifelong learning.

We believe that one of our approaches to outstanding learning is our Forest School. This approach is a form of ‘Outdoor Learning’, which we aim to help enthuse, educate and provide great memories to all our pupils.

C.I.T Academies has its own Forest School based just outside of Grantham, Lincolnshire. This is accessed by all pupils from both schools within Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship and also by pupils from Isaac Newton Primary School in Grantham.

Woodlands Academy in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, also has its own Forest School on site. As does The Priory School in Spalding, Lincolnshire, which is also accessed by pupils from The Garth School in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

There are wheelchair accessible pathways throughout all our Forest Schools. There are sensory stations based throughout sensory circuits with quiet areas and some with bamboo musical instruments. There are fire pit areas and spectacular outdoor classroom areas made from natural materials and positioned within the centre of the Forest Schools, taking advantage of all the wildlife around. Some Forest Schools have small orchards and vast amounts of wild flowers, along with bat boxes, bird boxes and brash fencing, inviting an abundance of wildlife in.

All areas of the curriculum across C.I.T Academies benefit from students being able to access these wonderful natural environments.
