What an incredible start to the year at The Parks, filled with exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences for our pupils.
Since October half-term, two of our Year 5 pupils have been attending mainstream Maths lessons with Mr Goode. They’ve explored topics such as fractions and multiplication of two-digit numbers. Both pupils also took part in Maths Assessment Week and have made outstanding progress!
One of our Year 6 pupils has joined Mrs Whitehurst’s class for Maths lessons, mastering skills like simplifying, ordering, adding, and subtracting fractions. Beyond the classroom, they enjoyed participating in Evacuee Day and visited the Hinckley War Memorial for Remembrance Day. Being part of this class has allowed them to make new friends and has helped to boost their confidence.
Our Reading Ambassador has been working with Miss Evans’ EYFS class, supporting younger children with their reading and sharing stories with groups. This role has helped them develop confidence and build resilience.
As a class, we’ve loved spending break times outside with the rest of the school, making new friends and enjoying the playground equipment. Weekly library sessions and PE lessons in the sports hall have also been a highlight.
We were thrilled to watch The Hinckley Parks Poetry Slam, where every class performed a poem for the school – what an inspiring event! We also enjoyed a lively pantomime performed by Year 10 students from the local college, full of fun and audience participation.
Four of our pupils had the amazing opportunity to perform at the Winter Song Festival through the Leicestershire Music Hub at De Montfort University. Singing Christmas carols to an audience of over 300 people was a huge achievement, and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication.
We couldn’t be prouder of all our students – they’ve accomplished so much in just one term. We’re excited to see what the spring term brings!
