The Trust held its annual Governance Development Day on Friday 30th June 2023. This year the event was held at Bingham Primary School.
The day was open to Members, Trustees, LSB Chairs and Vice Chairs, as well as School Council Chairs. This provides a networking opportunity for all layers of Governance across the Trust strengthening connectivity.
In attendance were two Members, six Trustees, LSB Chairs from Foxfields, Tulip, Greenfields, Ambergate & Sandon, Woodlands, Isaac Newton and the Vice Chair from Spalding St Paul’s.
The day began in the main school hall with a welcome and outline of the day from the Chair of the Trust Board – Stephen Hopkins. There was a ‘Getting to Know you’ social meet and greet session, followed by a presentation from the CEO, Peter Bell, about The Trust’s Strategic Growth Plan with Q&A. This led on to training sessions for school financials and an informative explanation about new governance training that will be rolled out in the new academic year.
School Council Chairs (along with their relevant staff member) from Bingham, Poplar Farm, Isaac Newton, Sandon, Greenfields and Foxfields then joined for lunch. The pupils met with the Trustees afterwards in a relaxed and informal session where they were able to ask some excellent questions about a number of topics, such as: “How do the Trust support children who have come to the UK from other countries?”, “How does CIT look after the staff that look after us?”, and “KS2 children have a trim-trail to climb, could money be found for KS1 children to have something?”
A lot of questions were answered on the day, anything requiring further feedback, the schools will be contacted directly.
The Governance Development Day was such a success this year that the Trust are looking to run two across the next academic year.
