LOCAL CHARITIES HELP FUND SCHOOL DEFIBRILLATOR

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Representatives from Pilgrim Heart & Lung Fund visited Boston Endeavour Academy last week to hand over a cheque for £600 towards a defibrillator. The Rotary Club of Boston also gave the school £250 towards the project.

Boston Endeavour Academy is a newly built ‘all needs’ special school for children aged 2-19 with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.

The school recently relocated from Ashlawn Drive where it had use of a defibrillator across the road at Tower Road School. Now on their new site on Kitwood Road, the school needed access to their own defibrillator and Pilgrim and Rotary stepped into help.

Rachel Thomas, Chairman of Pilgrim Heart & Lung Fund, said:

“We are very happy to support BEA’s project to purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) for their school. A sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere and at any time. As some of our committee members are healthcare professionals working at either Pilgrim Hospital or within our local community cardiac and respiratory nursing teams, we are very aware how important it is to have early access to an AED in order to have a better outcome in the event of a cardiac arrest.

It was an absolute pleasure to visit the school to present our cheque towards the funding of the project and meet some of the staff and pupils. It was just wonderful to see for ourselves the state-of-the-art facilities available at the school that will enhance the learning and development of all their pupils.”

Geoff Day, retiring President of The Rotary Club of Boston added:

“The Rotary Club of Boston is pleased to support the purchase of a defibrillator for Boston Endeavour Academy as part of our support for the local community.”

Aaron Bloodworth-Flatt, Deputy Headteacher at BEA said:

“We are incredibly thankful to both Pilgrim Heart & Lung and The Rotary Club of Boston, having a defibrillator on site could literally be a lifesaver.”
