Greenfields Academy, based in Grantham, is a Specialist School for SEMH pupils (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) aged 5 to 16 years.
We reported earlier in the year the school were raising funds to install a stand-alone ‘Therapy Hub’ in the school grounds to deliver essential therapies and confidential counselling to pupils.
With the target achieved in December, work began instantly to procure and install the new facility at the school.
Chris Armond, Executive Headteacher said:
“There has been so much work behind the scenes to see this project through to fruition. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff involved, our pupils will hugely benefit from their efforts.
A previous engineering project by pupils from the school was severely hindered by a break in, but thanks to the Caterham and Lotus Seven Facebook Groups, who stepped in to help and complete the car and even secure a buyer, meant our target was hit, and the Therapy Hub could be installed.”
With schools going back this week, the new facility will be accessed regularly by pupils attending the school.
Rachel Hill, Play Therapist said:
“The difference the Therapy Hub will make to pupils is immense. We can now provide these young people with a safe and confidential space in which to focus on their therapy without the distractions of school life. I am very grateful to everyone who helped bring this dream to life.”
Greenfields Academy plan to hold an official opening as soon as they can (Covid permitting), and will be inviting everyone involved to see exactly what their efforts have achieved.
