The perfect drive as two C.I.T schools are presented with brand new coaches

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Woodlands Academy, Spilsby, and Greenfields Academy, Grantham, are delighted to receive a brand-new Variety Sunshine minibus apiece sponsored by Variety Golf, a charity event organised by the children’s charity.

Both SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) schools dedicate their curriculums to preparing pupils for life beyond education, underpinned by the development of life skills through a variety of enrichment activities. Such experiences often require the schools to travel further afield, thus showcasing the importance of having efficient transport available on a regular basis.

Presented at Woburn Golf Club, following a charity round across the infamous course, representatives of both Woodlands and Greenfields can now enjoy using the new minibuses to transport pupils to important activities such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, outdoor learning sessions, museum trips and work experience opportunities.

A wealth of famous faces from sport, business and entertainment came together for a day of thrilling golf action. Participants included Ex Man Utd and England footballer Steve Coppell, Ex Arsenal and Northern Ireland footballer Pat Jennings, Ex Liverpool and Republic of Ireland footballer Steve Staunton, Ex England Cricketer Mark Ramprakash, and Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell.

Chris Armond, Executive Headteacher at Greenfields Academy said:

“It’s fantastic to have the funding towards a minibus as educational visits are a vital part of helping to deliver an engaging, aspirational curriculum. Pupils will also be able to partake in a greater number of sporting events, including fixtures against other schools.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Variety Golf for their generous support.”

Chris Rollings, Attendance Lead at Woodlands Academy said:

“The mini-bus will make a huge difference to our pupils. It will allow us more opportunities to get them out of school on a more regular basis to access vital trips into the community to help pupils learn the skills required to prepare them for the world after school. The new bus will also hugely support our delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh Award for pupils. We are so grateful to Variety.”
