Staff from the Community Inclusive Trust and Tulip Academy Spalding were delighted to be invited by Tilbury Douglas for a tour to see the building progress at Waterside Campus during half-term, alongside colleagues from the Department for Education.
Set for a Summer completion, the project led by Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business, is on behalf of the Department for Education for CIT Academies. The new build, two-storey, Special Educational Needs (SEN) school for children and young adults aged 11 to 16, replaces the previous out-dated accommodation on the site at Neville Avenue, Spalding.
Jan Swan, Project Manager for the Department for Education, commented: ‘It’s a pleasure to be the Project Manager for the DfE on this project and be part of the wider project team to include the contractor, our technical advisor and of course the school, Trust and, most importantly, the pupils.
Work is progressing at pace and we are looking forward to handing over the new block in due course and welcoming the pupils and staff into their new building.’
James Ellis, Director of SEND Education, added: ‘I’m absolutely delighted to see the progress of the new building at Tulip Academy. This is a fantastic step forward for our school community, providing more tailored spaces and opportunities for every pupil to thrive.
It’s a wonderful investment in the future of the young people at the school and we are really excited for it to open in September.’
