Workshops at Caythorpe Primary School

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Children and staff at Caythorpe Primary School have been busy with a series of workshops either side of Easter half-term.

On Tuesday 22nd April, they welcomed George from Lincolnshire County Council’s Stay Safe Partnership for a workshop on emotions and feelings.

The children in Neverland class were immediately engaged by an interactive crossword, guessing the name of the emotion from the description. George then took the children through a series of tools to support their emotions. They worked through various breathing techniques before considering distractions by drawing and writing about what makes them happy.

The children were encouraged to find ways of taking some space, using practical activities such as yoga and stretching and then separately thinking about how movement can help them.

They also looked at the importance of thinking and writing about their feelings, scrunching up what makes them feel sad and throwing it in the bin. The interactive session engaged the children throughout, culminating in the most important tool of all – talking to someone.

Children in Hogwarts class played “The Game of Conflict!”. The children were sorted into teams and took turns to roll the dice to see where they landed on the board. Some spaces asked the children to choose a tool or emotion card and others asked children to discuss conflict scenarios. Teams were awarded points depending on the tools they used to resolve the conflicts.

On Monday 10th March, the school welcomed Jo and Ted from Mini First Aid.
