Caythorpe Active Ambassadors win ‘Sports Crew of the Year’

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Caythorpe Primary School’s superb team of Active Ambassadors were worthy winners of the first “Sports Crew of the Year” award at the Sleaford Community Games event last week. They have worked tirelessly enabling more of our pupils get more active more of the time whilst developing their own confidence and leadership skills.

Caythorpe’s Active Ambassadors receive weekly training sessions through CGS Outreach and within these sessions they are taught games which they deliver at breaktimes to groups of pupils to encourage more pupils to be more active. They were also trained to adapt games to meet different pupil’s needs. At further meetings they plan activities for breaktimes and intra-school competitions including for the Caythorpe School Games Day.

To further increase motivation, the Active Ambassadors are given the opportunity to award pupils for their participation using the school games values of passion, respect, teamwork, honesty, resilience and self-belief in a weekly celebration assembly.

Active Ambassadors have worked hard to develop a game to deliver at the Sleaford Schools Commonwealth widening their experience of the sport which they delivered (cricket) to a wider audience. They researched and delivered a presentation on a Cricket Sporting hero – Freddy Flintoff.

Well done team, you have certainly demonstrated the school games values of respect, self-belief, honesty, determination, passion and teamwork admirably.

A huge thank you to Miss Falkner from CGS for her support with Caythorpe’s Active Ambassadors throughout the year.
