Consultation

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Consultation on a proposal to expand the capacity at GANF.

Following approval in 2018 by the Department for Education (DfE) to merge Ambergate Sports College and Sandon School, a date for this merger has now been scheduled for 1st January 2024. The two schools will become officially known as Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship (GANF).

In 2018, the DfE had agreed a merged school capacity of 229. However, because of a growth in pupil numbers since 2018, there are currently 256 pupils attending both the Ambergate and Sandon Schools. The Community Inclusive Trust (CIT), in collaboration with Lincolnshire County Council (LCC), is therefore required to commence a consultation on a proposal to permanently expand the capacity at GANF.

It is the statutory duty of LCC to ensure there are sufficient school places to accommodate all pupils of statutory school age in Lincolnshire, including provision for children with special educational needs and disability (SEND). This proposal seeks agreement to increase the previously agreed number of pupil places at GANF from 229 to 260, split across both the Ambergate and Sandon sites. Additional teaching and resource space will not be required to enable the school to maintain this number of pupils on roll.

The proposed implementation date for the new capacity to be agreed coincides with the merger date of 1st January 2024. It is important that CIT gathers and considers all views on this proposal prior to deciding on whether to proceed.

The consultation will run from 27th September 2023 to 27th October 2023.
