Supporting Neurodivergence

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

CIT’s Jessica Newcombe was approached to write a chapter for a new book offering practical support to professionals to move towards a more neuro-aware and neuro-affirmative way of working.

A Clinician’s Guide to Neurodivergence: Supporting a neuro-affirmative form of practice is a concise handbook which provides a comprehensive and accessible overview of a range of conditions to support working with individuals with diverse neurocognitive profiles.

Topics covered include learning difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, Autism, ADHD, Mental Health, acquired brain injury and various other neurodivergent profiles.

It is valuable reading for students, researchers, clinicians, therapists, medical and allied professionals who require an introductory text providing in-depth details regarding a range of neurodivergent conditions.

Jessica commented: “I was approached by the authors. They asked if I would be interested in writing a chapter for the book and I was excited to be involved. Having Dyslexia myself, and working with children with special educational needs, I am very passionate about awareness being raised for neurodivergence.”

Jessica is currently on secondment at Boston Endeavour Academy (from Newton Bridge Academy) as Deputy Headteacher. She is a qualified teacher and holds both a PhD and a Masters in Specialist Education.
