The Garth School in Spalding are delighted to announce they have maintained their ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted status from June 2015, following a short inspection last month.
The SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) school meets the needs of pupils aged between 2 and 19 and is well equipped to meet their complex, severe and profound learning difficulties.
The Ofsted report explained how “pupils very much enjoy attending the school. They learn well, their views are listened to and they appreciate the high-quality care and guidance they receive. You have created a positive and stimulating curriculum, which is personalised to meet the needs of individual pupils.”
Inspectors were particularly impressed by the dedication and hard work of staff that goes into the learning experiences they provide for the pupils.
“Staff carefully plan pupils’ learning and provide effective support. This ensures that pupils make outstanding progress from their starting points. Staff create wonderful learning experiences that support pupils to develop their personal and communication skills well.”
Ofsted also noted how pupils were aware of the progress they have made. “They [pupils] were able to explain in detail how they had improved as a result of close school support. Curriculum design provides pupils with a bespoke offer closely linked to their Education, Health and Care Plans.”
Interactions with the community and other schools is also showing to have a direct impact on the outcomes for pupils.
“Leaders ensure that pupils contribute positively in their local community. Some pupils attend another school within the Trust to study for more formal qualifications. Pupils are now better prepared for the next stage in their learning and are rightly proud of their achievements.”
Claire Moore, Head of School, was delighted with the ’Outstanding’ rating.
“I am delighted with our recent OFSTED Inspection result and the outstanding grading reflects the passion and commitment our exemplary staff team give to the school, day in, day out. Our pupils access the highest quality of education and care, tailored to meet individual needs and bespoke learning intentions to best prepare and support our pupils for each stage of their education, and successful transitioning towards adult life.
The report highlights the work we do at The Garth remarkably well and reads brilliantly. We are over the moon!”
