Associate Headteacher takes on ultra-marathon to raise funds for PPE

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Becky King, Associate Headteacher at C.I.T Academies, has ramped up her already busy workload by adding a 5km run every other day in a bid to complete a mammoth virtual 184km challenge (over 144 miles!).

Becky advises C.I.T Academies on standards across the Trust’s mainstream primary schools, supporting school development through her vast education experience.

However, Becky has recognised the need to support hospice care workers in the fight against the Coronavirus, with reports suggesting they are severely short of adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the fight against the virus.

Becky and her partner, Nick, have decided to “virtually” run between their home in Old Somersby and where Nick is from in Shrewsbury, totalling a distance of 184km. They are completing the challenge within Government Lockdown Guidelines, running their 5km stints within an hour, around the surrounding area of their home. All funds raised through the challenge will go to Hospice UK to buy PPE for staff.

Becky explained, “Neither of us are experienced or hardy runners. It is a real challenge for us that has provided a purpose and drive to do something positive and have a goal.”

Becky is adding regular distance updates via her fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rebecca-king32

At the time of writing, she has virtually made it to Nottingham. Keep going Becky!
