Defibrillators now at GANF Schools

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

Both Ambergate Sports College and Sandon School now have a life saving Defibrillator at each site!

This is with thanks to Friends of Sandon and Ambergate (FOSA), and a London based charity, The Carly Heart Trust – their mission is to provide all local schools with defibrillators and get as many people First Aid trained as possible.

Defibrillators combined with trained CPR within 3-5 minutes increase the survival rate from 6% to 74%, currently 270 children die every year at school from sudden cardiac arrest, approximately 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests happen every year and without immediate treatment, 90-95% of sudden cardiac arrest victims will die.

Defibrillator training is covered in the GANF Emergency First Aid Training for staff, so there will always be trained members of staff on site in an emergency situation.

It is wonderful that we are able to have this valuable piece of equipment at both schools, and of course our hope is that we never have to use it. With special thanks again to FOSA and The Carly Heart Trust.
