Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings, accredited by Arts Council England.
Artsmark supports settings to develop and celebrate their commitment to arts and cultural education, equipping pupils with the cultural capital they need to succeed in life and nurture their imagination and creativity. Artsmark can help unlock the potential of children and young people, helping them to develop character and talent, and increase their knowledge and understanding.
We are delighted to announce that thanks to the hard work of Sophie Ground, John Fielding School has received the Artsmark Silver Award!
Through partnerships with local arts organisations such as Boston Theatre Group – The Biz, and by using the Arts as a way of reaching out to the local community, we have successfully integrated the Arts throughout our work at the school.
Pupils have had opportunities to take part in choir performances, including at Sheffield Arena, a performance of Romeo and Juliet at Lincoln Drill Hall, and Christmas performances, to name but a few.
The school’s pupil council representatives decided to introduce termly ‘WOW Days’ to devote teaching and learning time to a range of arts and cultural experiences linked to curriculum topics. Inviting parents into school and sharing the talents of our pupils, celebrating the developments in their confidence and sociability, impressed the assessor:
“Your ambition to share practice and ideas is great and as you make more progress with that it will help consolidate your own learning and development. It was heartening to hear some of the individual stories of progress. We look forward to seeing how your development continues.”
