LEICESTER RIDERS SUPPORT FOXFIELDS

CIT - Community Inclusive Trust. Where learning comes first

The Leicester Riders Foundation have been working with Foxfields Academy providing two PE lessons and lunchtime clubs each week.

The clubs have helped get pupils active and engaged in physical activity.

The Riders have provided high quality Basketball coaching sessions for our pupils and this is something the pupils have really enjoyed. More pupils have become interested in Basketball following the coaching sessions and have made it an activity they do every break time, even when the Riders aren’t in school!

Laura Shephard from the Riders Foundation, along with professional player Mo Walker, came into school last term to hold an assembly with Upper School pupils. They talked about respect, team work and racism in sport. Mo explained his story of how he had to overcome adversity to become a professional basketball player and how he had to work hard in school as well as at his sport to become successful. He also talked about the importance of working as a team to be successful.

The pupils loved the afternoon and Mo was asked by the pupils to slam dunk at the end of the assembly!
