As the Winter Olympics takes centre stage, Spalding St Paul’s enjoyed a visit from Paralympic Summer Games champion, Jonathan Broom-Edwards.
The High Jump star delivered an inspirational assembly live to Year 4 pupils and via Teams to the rest of the school. He talked about his life and his journey to becoming a gold medalist at the Tokyo Paralympics, linking with the school’s PHSE topic this term – Dreams and Goals
Connor, Year 6, explained: ‘It was really inspiring to hear about how Jonathan had a disability, yet still managed to achieve his goal. He had many challenges but managed to push through.’
Harvey, Year 6, added: ‘Jonathan was so much fun. He showed us how high he could jump – higher than a door! We watched some videos of him in the Paralympics when he got his medal. We heard about his disability and some injuries that he had too.’
