The Variety Sunshine Coach, in partnership Joie Baby, was handed over at a ceremony at Ambergate Sports College last week. The coach will be vital in providing pupils with regular access to offsite and extra-curricular activities, after school clubs and residential courses.
Sara Ellis, Assistant Headteacher at Sandon School said: “The mini-bus has made such a huge difference to the pupils in school. It has ensured that we have been able to get pupils out of school on a more regular basis to access activities such as forest school, canoeing and vital trips into the community to help pupils learn the skills required to prepare them for the world after school. Without the help of Joie Baby and Variety, this just wouldn’t have been possible.”
David Welsh, Managing Director of Joie Baby, said: “We’re very excited to present Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship with its coach and see first-hand the wonderful people who will benefit – it truly is a joy.”
Dave King, Head of Programmes at Variety, said: “We are extremely grateful to Joie Baby for funding this sunshine coach, along with nine others up-and-down the country. This sunshine coach will be getting a lot of use supporting the school’s accessible education programme, focusing especially on taking children to cultural and sporting events which will help them develop their social skills and increase their confidence at participating in society.”
